The Interskill Learning Experience

  • Interactive, Engaging and Effective

Interskill Learning is serious about creating a successful learning experience for your personnel. Rather than just focusing on the technical aspects of online learning, we try to focus on the learning itself and how technology can be used to facilitate improved educational outcomes. Our courseware design is informed by contemporary learning theory and is interactive, contextualised and responsive to diverse learning styles.

  • Simulation of Real-World Environments

In the world of online learning, the most effective way to train is to actually work through simulations of the systems you are being trained in or the situations you are most likely to encounter. We believe in immersing learners in relevant and authentic activities that are designed to motivate, engage and produce quantifiable change. The experience and familiarity gained from these experiences serve to not only increase a student's knowledge and skill level, but boosts their confidence when working on a live system.

In addition to the simulations spread throughout all our course curriculums, our mainframe product range ever offers a z/OS console simulator. Students can gain hands-on expertise in manual IPL and shutdown procedures as well as practicing a multitude of other commands.

    Console Simulations

  • Testing Throughout

All our e-learning content is designed and delivered as structured courseware. It teaches basic principles or skills, promotes understanding and then builds on that strong foundation with further principles or skills in subsequent training modules. Insuring this understanding at each stage before further progression is achieved by continual testing. The testing methods employed are designed to be the most effective for the subject matter being taught. i.e.:
    Testing

    • Testing on theory and concepts is carried out through combinations of multiple choice, fill the blank and drag and drop question types to test a users knowledge of the correct response and provide clear feedback that enables them to review and self-regulate their own knowledge acquisition.
    • Testing on applications that are heavily screen based (ISPF, SDSF, Microsoft, Adobe, Lotus, SAP, etc.) utilises simulations that ask the student to enter commands or complete certain tasks that they would be expected to encounter in the real-world, demonstrating not only their knowledge of the correct response but that they know how to apply this knowledge.
    • Testing on coding (JCL, COBOL, CICS, Java, C++, etc.) asks the student to demonstrate their coding knowledge, showing that they possess the ability to combine separate code sequences into the required structure to successfully pass the assessment.
  • Unmatched Breadth, Depth and Currency

Each of Interskill's 150+ mainframe courses or 6,000+ catalogue courses can be completed by itself but typically we consider each course as one component of a complete training solution. A real strength of access to a comprehensive e-learning curriculum such as this comes when your employees have completed a multitude of courses on multiple facets of their work environment and job competency. This offers the opportunity to build a cross trained, multi-skilled workforce. All of our courses are kept up-to-date so even senior staff can benefit from training in the latest releases of core software. Such access is invaluable to pre-training staff before an upgrade or implementing new software updates.
